International Projects
BCTMO Conservation Club collaborates with other conservation and hunting associations, stakeholders, governments and universities to impact stewardship on an international level. These are a few of the international projects we have been involved in:
California Bighorn sheep migration
In collaboration with the Thompson River University – Faculty of Science
Examination of the movements of individual rams within several herds of BC California Bighorn sheep. Working with massive data sets collected through satellite collars, focused on the long-distance forays conducted by rams, and also the general distribution of the herds through time and space. Why, where and how the rams conduct these movements is of particular interest as it may bring the animals into contact with domestic sheep which brings the threat of disease transfer.
Donation partnerships for conservation
We work closely with a large number of hunting associations such as Safari Club International, the Wild Sheep Foundation and Dallas Safari Club and their chapters by donating hunts to their annual fundraisers. The money raised from the sale of these hunts is used by the associations internationally to fund conservation projects such as anti-poaching and hunter education. A portion of the money raised also goes towards conservation in the Chilcotin Ark.
